The railway was one of the most representative modes of transport in Medellin city. In March 9th of 1914 arrive to the Cisneros station, the first railway of Antioquia. Which besides to be used as a means economic, people used it for their trips and vacations. Trough the railway came to the city many people, as well as many others could get out and meet other places of Colombia. The most famous railway station were: Medellin station and Villa station.

Although the railway was a great achievement for all, in the end of 50s was sold to the nation and integrated national railway network, as it had fallen into disuse, by competition from roads and ground transport.
